Economic security is vital to confidence and well-being. Women who are financially independent have greater control of their lives and their children’s lives.

Support for women should be holistic. It is important to address key challenges such as lack of access to training, market networks, finance and technology. The goal is not to replace men, but to work alongside them. Societies must develop opportunities for women and lift the barriers that prevent all people from reaching their full potential.

Mobile technology presents a great opportunity for women. SMS scorecards are also useful for determining where that technology is important and where it can be used in the fields of safety, education, health, banking and more. Approaches to using ICT will vary based on environment and whether or not internet use is widespread.
